Initiating serious measures against false Alarm Chain Pulling, without any valid reason, the Central Railway registered 11,434 cases, 9657 persons were prosecuted and an amount of INR 63.21 lakhs has been recovered as penalty from them, between April 2023 to June 2024.
The alarm chain is provided to be pulled in emergency situations only.
Misuse of the alarm chain is a punishable offence under section 141 of the Railways Act. Penalties may include imprisonment for up to one year, a fine of Rs 1000, or both.
