Rise in drunk driving cases in Mumbai

With 4,600 cases in 6 months, Mumbai saw a significant rise in drunk driving cases.

While the drink and driving cases last year between January and July were only 447, this year the number increased to 4196 for the same period.
According to the police records, the areas which witnessed most number of drunk driving cases are Sahar (288) Sakinaka (264) DN Nagar (244) Santacruz (234) Nagpada (230) Oshiwara (187) Mulund (185) Vakola (170) MIDC (178) Dahisar and Ghatkopar 164 cases each.

Due to the rise in drunk and drive cases, the Mumbai police have increased the nakanadi in the city.
A fine of around Rs. 180 crores have been collected from the drink drivers.
