Mumbai police deployed 15000 police personnel to maintain law and order in the city during Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The Mumbai police, in a press release urged Mumbaikars to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, from September 7 to 17 with great enthusiasm in Mumbai.
The police have also urged citizens to show patience and to cooperate with the police in crowded places. “People should inform the police as soon as they spot abandoned items, and must follow rules and regulations while celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi. During an emergency, citizens should contact the police helpline 100, 112 for police assistance.”
To ensure that citizens celebrate the festival peacefully, the Mumbai Police have deployed 32 deputy commissioners of police, 45 assistant commissioners of police, as many as 2,435 police officers, and 12,420 other police officials.
