Crowd of 10000 gathered outside Masjid to stop demolition, in Dharavi

Tension prevailed this morning in Dharavi when the demolition squad of BMC G North ward reached Dharavi to demolish an alleged illegal portion of Mehboob-E-Subhani Masjid.
Heavy police ‘bandobast’ had been deployed in the vicinity to prevent any untoward incidence.
As the news spread, a mob of around 10000 people gathered at the site, in no time.

A large number of people also assembled outside the Dharavi police station and squatted on the road to protest against the demolition .

The Congress Mumbai chief, Varsha Gaikwad, reached the spot and informed the civic authorities that he had a talk with the CM on this issue and that the CM had assured her of sorting out the issue, soon. The demolition has been temporarily postponed.
The situation was efficiently kept under control by the police officials.
