After the Sambhal Mosque row, which claimed the lives of four people, another Jama Masjid in UP’s Badaun district is now facing legal battle after a Hindu outfit claimed that it had been constructed after demolishing a Shiva temple by the Muslim ruler
Qutub-ud-din-Aibak, who built Qutub Minar in Delhi, in the 13th century.
The lawyer for the Masjid Committee rubbishes the claim and said that the Mosque was 850 years old and that no temple ever existed there. Muslims claim that Sultan Shams-ud-din-Altmash had built the mosque in the year 1223.
The matter was heard today by a fast track court that fixed December 10 for further hearing of the matter.
