Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul asked Muslims to “stay indoors” on Holi, which falls on a Friday.
“There are 52 jummas in a year. One of them coincides with Holi. So, the Muslims should stay inside and let Hindus celebrate the festival.
“And if Muslims come out on Holi and colours are smeared on them they should tolerate and not take offence to it,
this is essential for maintaining communal harmony,” he said.
The RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Congress MLA Anand Shankar hit out at the BJP and questioned CM Nitish Kumar’s silence on the controversial remark.
Recently, a police officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district said those uncomfortable with Holi colours should remain indoors.
