Khalida released after Hasina flees

After Shaikh Hasina flees, President orders release of Khaleda Zia, a key opponent of Hasina who was sentenced to 17 years in prison in 2018 on corruption charges.
Khaleda Zia had served as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2006. 1991–96 and 2001–06. She was the first woman to serve as prime minister of the country.

Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin said all politicians and students detained in the country will also be released.
