In a gruesome incident in Bangladesh today 24 people, including an Indonesian national, have been burnt alive in Zabir International Hotel owned by district Awami League general secretary Shahin Chakkladar, after its leader Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country. The surviving hotel staff feared more bodies could be found inside the debris.
This is not an isolated incident, there are reports from across Bangladesh that angry mob destroyed residences and business establishments of many Awami League leaders and activists. Even the party’s central office in the capital has been torched by the mob.
