42% rain predictions for Mumbai in June went wrong.
The Union Ministry of Earth and Sciences sought an explanation from Mumbai’s IMD’s central and regional department over the inaccurate daily forecasts for the month of June.
According to the Union Ministry, it has sought an explanation to find out what remedial measures can be taken to improve the existing forecast system.
Apart from Regional Meteorological Centre located at Colaba, there are 160 automatic weather systems
Mumbai and neighbouring areas which undertake scanning every 15 minutes.
