Rajasthan’s BJP government has lifted the 52-year-old ban on government employees participating in the activities of the RSS.
In 2022, the Centre government had lifted a ban on government employees taking part in the RSS activities. This ban was imposed by the former prime minister Indira Gandhi in November 1966
In January 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by a member of the RSS, Nathuram Godse. Following the assassination, many prominent leaders of the RSS were arrested, and the RSS as an organisation was banned on 4 February 1948.
On 11 July 1949, the ban of RSS was lifted by the Government of India.
