*BJP unhappy with Yamini Jadhav’s ‘burqa distribution’*
Keeping in mind the sizable Muslim voters in the Byculla constituency, the Shivsena MLA, Yamini Jadhav, of Shinde faction, on September 7, distributed burqa to Muslim girls.
However, this act didn’t go down well with the BJP as the distribution of burqa contradicts the BJP policy which opposes hijab, in most of its ruled states.
Justifying the burqa distribution Jadhav argued that her constituency has nearly 50 per cent Muslims, in Diwali, I and my husband give gifts to Hindus, but do nothing for Muslims, therefore this year we decided to distribute burqa to Muslims girls and that burqa distribution has nothing yo do with Muslim appeasement. However, BJP seems to be reluctant to buy this argument.
The BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar categorically opposed the distribution of burqa and said his party was not in favour of appeasement politics.
