I had no other option but to open fire, says officer who shot Akshay.

A day after Badlapur sexual assault case accused, Akshay Shinde, was shot dead by police in `retaliatory firing’, his father, Anna Shinde, has moved the Bombay High Court seeking probe by a special investigation team, into the death alleging that his son was killed in a ‘fake encounter’.

On the other hand, the officer, Sanjay Shinde, who shot Akshay Shinde, said he had no option but to open fire as Akshay had become aggressive and uncontrollable, he grabbed API More’s pistol and shot him in his thigh. Issuing warning that he will not leave anyone alive, Akshay fired two more rounds at me and the other officers but missed both times. Fearing for my life and the safety of my colleagues, I fired a single shot and Akshay collapsed inside the van and we regained control,” the officer said.
