Senior politician and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, was shot 8-9 rounds out of which 3 three bullets hit his stomach and chest.
The attack is carried out by 3 unidentified assailants outside his son’s office in Bandra.
Siddique (65) was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital, where he was declared dead on admission.
Baba Siddique was associated with the Congress party for 48 years.
In February this year, Siddique left Congress and joined Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
He was a three-term MLA from Mumbai. His son Zeeshan Siddique is an MLA from Bandra East.
Police suspect gangster Lawrence Bishnoi behind the killing.
Baba is known for his close contacts with famous Bollywood actors, including the three Khans – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt, Priya Dutt.
Two suspects have been detained by the police, reportedly the pistols used by the alleged assailants have also been recovered.
