Karnataka actress, Ranya Rao, was arrested at Bengaluru International Airport, last week, by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence while she was smuggling 14 kg gold bars, worth Rs 12.56 crore, from Dubai.
During the search at her residence, gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and Indian currency amounting to Rs 2.67 crore were also recovered. It was also revealed that the actress visited Dubai frequently.
The Karnataka Government has ordered an enquiry against the Director General of Police, Ramachandra Rao, who’s the step father of Ranya, as she misused the protocol services provided to her by her father to evade checking at airports.
