Despite the humiliating defeat in Bihar, the Congress on Saturday announced that the party would go it alone in the crucial BMC polls.

Unhappy with Shiv Sena (UBT) over its ties with MNS, Congress on Saturday finally announced that it would go solo in the BMC elections.
Refering to Raj Thackeray’s MNS, Gaikwad said the Congress could not ally with parties who had been violent and beat up people from other states. This is not Congress culture and is completely unacceptable, so the Congress have decided to contest BMC election alone, Varsha said in a party meeting.

BJP leader Ashish Shelar mocked the Congress’ statement of fighting the Mumbai civic polls alone and asked if the grand old party had the guts or vote base to take such a decision.
